My family and I (husband & two daughters 16 & 12) stayed in a two queen bed room #29 February 12-14. The room was clean (give the bathroom a 9) and provided enough space for the two nights. Liked having a private entrance to our room and having an outside sitting area. We enjoyed the daily breakfast offerings by the pool and the woman who provided that (forget her name) was pleasant and quick to keep things replenished. The front desk manager was helpful in suggesting dinner choices and the ease in getting around the keys. First visit to Key West; hopefully not our last.  Quaint, charming building with a resort like pool setting and outside areas to enjoy the sunshine & warmth of the beautiful weather!

Our party of 4 really enjoyed the old feeling of Key West that the Chelsea House Pool and Gardens provided. Our rooms and beds were well appointed and comfortable. Although the baths were small, it is understood that when a historic home is converted to an inn, there are some allowances that have to be made. The overall experience, around the pool, the breakfast, the lounging areas, the location, the gardens, all proved to be the mood that we wanted in Key West as opposed to a resort that cannot offer the same ambience. Will stay there again on our next trip!

We did what several travelers do on their travel bucket lists; we drove drown to Key West from Miami in a convertible.  We arrived around 5:00 pm.  The check-in process was quick and hassle free. Our room was clean and what we expected except for no working door to the balcony outside.  In reviewing the hotel’s website prior to booking, it appeared that all rooms had an immediate outdoor sitting area off the room.  Because of the decorative door to our balcony, that was not the case for our room.  That was disappointing.

Our stay in  Key West and specifically the Chelsea House was otherwise very nice.  The grounds at the hotel were very well kept and reminded us of the “old south”.  The gardens were beautiful and the pool and various outdoor  seating areas were very inviting.  The location was great as the majority of the sites to see are within walking distance.

The complimentary continental breakfast offered numerous choices.  The breakfast staff was very friendly and accommodating.

We would recommend the Chelsea House to those we know.  We enjoyed our vacation to the Florida Keys very much.  We saw numerous sites, enjoyed a wonderful array of restaurants, and visited three beaches at three state parks within an hours driving distance.  We look forward to visiting again.

We stayed at the Chelsea House for 7 days February 2015. The place had such character, and a great location just far enough from Duval. With a short walk to all of the action or a short walk back to the peace and quiet of the pool, it was well worth it.

The staff was very pleasant from check in to  check out and the housekeeping staff was fabulous. The room was clean, and the towels and linens always neat and clean. The bed was super comfy too.

All visitors must remember that you are visiting a place with history and it has been around for over a century. As long as you are not expecting something brand new and pristine, you will be satisfied with its beautiful, quirky charm and character.

We stayed 4 nights at Chelsea House, 2 nights in a superior Queen room and 2 nights in a King room – while both rooms were great – the King room was larger and had a bigger shower. All the staff were excellent, housekeeping staff were very friendly and attentive. Rooms and grounds were clean and well maintained. Location was a few blocks to Duval Street, just a very short walk. We would also recommend renting a scooter during your stay – there was a scooter rental place 2 blocks from Chelsea House.

Went for a quick weekend getaway to Key West with no reservation anywhere – we thought we would just find a place when we got there.  We did not know that was the same weekend as the February marathon and there were zero available rooms in Old Town.  The nice lady (I forget her name, Julia? maybe) was SOOO nice.  She had a room for us for Sunday, and said she would call back later if something became available.  True to her promise, she DID call us back a few hours later.  We were fortunate to have found a room by then, but her kindness, understanding, friendliness and hospitality made us feel special, and that she truly cared about US, not about renting us a room.  I would recommend Historic Key West Inns to anyone considering a stay in the Keys – I know they will be my only call when I return one day.

After a long, and beautiful drive from Miami to Key West, my husband and I (and our little dog Chloe) were excited to check in to our room. My first pleasant impression was the very visible parking space designated for checking in. Our check in was smooth and fast. We had a junior suite on the first floor. Again we were pleasantly surprised when we saw our room. High ceilings make this room very spacious, and the space itself is very comfortable. We LOVED the private back area with a private porch, and a fenced in mulched space for our puppy. The kitchen had everything that we needed. A nice touch was the wine & champagne glasses chilling in the refrigerator. We met Frankie who was such a delight and cleaned the room beautifully. The entire staff is very warm, welcoming, and friendly. Rent a bike as soon as you check in, it is the best way to get around. And definitely check out the Sunset Pier at zero Duval street. The view is stunning and the Caipirinhas are the best. We would definitely stay here again!

We are so happy to have found this property for our stay in Key West.  As a remodeled historic house, it serves the “old town” well.  The location is perfect for walking Duval Street from end to end as well as exploring Whitehead Street, the Key West Cemetary, and other local sites.  We were especially thankful to have the help of Lyenna who not only make the check in/check out process go smoothly, she also gave us recommendations for eating, sightseeing, and patiently marked our areas of interest on the local map.

Our cozy room was located on the second floor, with access to the front porch.  What a great place for watching people and traffic, yet it was not noisy when we wished quiet.  All the necessary amenities were there.  Continental breakfast was served in a poolside manner with plenty of great hot coffee! Linda is a great hostess there!

We already have recommended this place to friends who wish to visit from Italy.  I hope they take us up on it!  We hope to return as well.

This was our fourth visit over a ten year period. Front of  building and the front desk room are very attractive. Pool area is well kept. Room was well lit, sheets and bedspread were clean, maintenance was prompt when needed. Beds remade promptly each morning. Staff is always very pleasant and very accommodating. Room was ready upon arrival. Breakfast fare,*8A-10A each morning, was very adequate. House location is very good; off the main street but close enough to easily walk to all interesting points of the city.
