Cypress House
We have been coming to Key West for over 20 years and have vacationed in many different accommodations. We were very happy with our experience here and the value we got for the money spent. The location was a big factor in us choosing to stay here as it is close to the Marina, Duval and Pepe’s (our favorite breakfast spot on Caroline).
The room (#11) was a nice size and we loved the newly renovated bathroom – the shower being our favorite. We were right up on Simonton so we did hear traffic going by – but we can sleep through anything - so that did not matter to us as it might those who are light sleepers. We also enjoyed the little patio with 2 chairs and a table right out front of our room. The only ‘complaint’ being that those nice hardwood floors needed a good cleaning. You could not walk around without having some dirt on the bottom of your feet.
We really enjoyed breakfast & reading the paper by the pool in the morning. What a nice spread: Bagels, pastries. breads, cereals, yogurts, fruits, milk, juice, coffee & tea and always something warm cooked up each morning. Very nice considering this is not a Bed & Breakfast. The paper (Citizen) was available each morning which we really appreciated. I must say that I did not like the coffee (coffee snob that I am) so I hit either 5 Brothers (on Southard); Cuban Coffee Queen (on Caroline at Marina); or Plantation Coffee House (on Caroline) – Oh, and there is a Starbucks on Duval.
After gallivanting during the day, we always made it back to the Cypress House before happy hour (5:00) for a quick jump in the pool and to enjoy the appetizer & cocktail slated for that evening. Don’t miss Sangria night – yum! Very nice down time between day activities and heading out for the evening.
For dinner we hit our usual favorites: Conch Republic Seafood House (ask for the Royal Reds if you like shrimp/lobster); Mangia Mangia; Roof Top; Michaels… We found a new place (for us) further down on Duval – Croissants De France – which will be added to our list of favorites. Crepes were amazing! We also went here for breakfast one morning and that was also amazing.
To end, we loved the historic buildings, beautiful grounds and the Key West feel sitting by the pool listening to music and meeting nice people at the Cypress House. The staff were all very friendly & accommodating. Thank you Christopher for printing our boarding passes!! Send my love to Lady Bug – hope she is feeling better.

The Cypress House was a delight from check-in time to saying good-bye 3 days later. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was beautiful and had everything we needed available. Breakfast was nice and the 5 pm happy hour was special fun. We’ll be back!

My wife and I were guests at the Cypress House and we were extremely pleased with everything from the first greeting with Christopher to our final goodbye with a young lady (with glasses — I do not know her name). We were treated kindly every time we visited with your staff and were made to feel at home. I would whole-heartedly recommend your properties and have already done so. Thanks for making our three-day stay a memorable and relaxing one. While I’m mentioning people I have to also give a positive comment to Scott too who helped us extend our stay by a night because we found this so well.

My husband and I have visited Key West many times and this was our first visit to the Cypress House. The convenience to Duval Street and Mallory Square was great. We were there to attend a wedding at the Audubon House. We stayed in the King Deluxe Room in the main house on the third floor. The room was very comfortable and spacious. One suggestion we would have is if the grout in the shower and bathroom could be bleached. We know the bathroom was clean, but the fact that the grout is stained in the shower and on the floor does not present well.
Breakfast at the pool was very relaxing and a great way to start the day.
We would definitely look to stay with you again.

Thank you! We really enjoyed our stay at Cypress House. We may be back in 2013 as my girlfriend, who had never been to Key West before, fell in love with the place and really loved our stay at Cypress House. We were very grateful for the assistance and recommendations we received from your front desk guys – Christopher in particular who had fantastic information and went out of his way to help us.
We stayed in room #8 (the haunted room we were told) and even had a spooky experience. We had placed a 2.5 gallon water container on top of the room’s refrigerator when we got in and several hours later as we were relaxing on the bed together….the water bottle (which must have weighed 3 lbs) fell on the floor with a large thunk! My girlfriend Brenda tried to play it off that she put it on the fridge and was hanging off and the vibration of the refrigerator slowing moved it off until it fell….but that theory is somewhat shaky, ha ha.
We look forward to our next stay at one of your properties!

Loved the hotel! We had a King suite for one night and it was large, clean and we just loved the balcony! The hotel has a natural wood look on the outside and is very nice inside. It’s a perfect Key West hotel with perfect location near Duval street, but not so close that any sound was disturbing!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Cypress House! We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary, and it was our very first visit to the Florida Keys. The accommodations were everything we hoped they would be. I was a bit nervous about booking our reservation on-line without ever having been to Key West before, but those nerves were put to rest as soon as we entered the office. The room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. We stayed in Room 4 and especially enjoyed our seating area on the front porch where we could just sit, relax, and enjoy each others company. The breakfast was delicious and we appreciated having choices other than just cereal, fruit, and pastries. We will certainly recommend your establishment to our friends and family. Thanks again!

What a charming B&B Cyress House is. The staff were all so accommodating no matter what you asked for or when. We really appreciated the kindnesses shown. Glad it was adults only and very quiet too. Especially enjoyed staying in the Library room. Will want that one on our next visit.

We can’t say enough to say how much we enjoyed our stay. The Staff is #1!! From the office staff to the lady that cleaned our room. They went out of there way to make our stay the best we have had in our 6 trips (first time there) to Key West. The room was so clean and we enjoyed the Liming hour meeting other guests. Friendly, warm, funny, giving you a family caring for you feeling. And a thanks to Lady Bug for her warm greetings and company by the pool! We were there for our 35th anniversary and can’t wait to come back. We have and will recommend anyone going to Key West to try the Cypress House. Thank you again to the staff of the Cypress House for making our time there the best!!!!

Danielle handled our multiple unit arrangements without a hitch and all of the staff were professional and friendly. The pool was ideal, the breakfasts were delicious, the happy hour was appreciated. The only suggestion is to be diligent in maintenance, especially as it relates to the facade. One missing rail baluster can degrade the initial impression. Other than that, I look forward to returning to another HKWI property the next time in KW.
Thanks
