My wife and I have been to Key West several times and have typically gone the route of a resort type feel (i.e. Casa Marina). Those are beautiful places, but much like comparing a large corporation to a successful sole prop, there was a warm and pleasant feeling with regard to the ease of stay and flexibility at the Key Lime Inn.  Our cottage was beautiful and our staff was very friendly.  We felt like we “owned” the cottage.  Meaning, we felt at home.  If a resort sized pool and fancy dinner are your thing, then go for the Hyatt.  Otherwise, relax :)  Location was great too… we always aimed for the beach front, but it didn’t really matter much as the best beaches in the Keys are the public ones.  We spent most of the afternoons at the Southernmost beach – great restaurant/bar and all sand.

Upon arrival with my wife and 3yr old (turned 3 during our trip), the front desk girls gave my daughter A LOT of attention… means a lot to a parent and promotes happiness.  During check-in, we happened to mention it was her bday and to our surprise when walking into our cottage, there were hidden postcards all over the place (even in the fridge:) with hand written notes to our daughter wishing her a Happy Birthday.  A great example of the nice touch you get in a place like the Key Lime Inn; no chance the larger resorts do that.

Overall, a great stay.  We rented bikes… great way to go!  Have to make one recommendation ;) Start breakfast a bit earlier… 8am seemed 30-60min too late; but as my wife reminded me, we’re in Key West, sleep in :)

Thanks again for a great stay.  I am sure we will see you again very soon!

Best,

Nick

We just returned from the Key Lime Inn this past Thursday evening (5/22/14) and had a great time enjoying Key West.  We had an issue after the first night in our room, but Melissa went above and beyond to “make it right”.  It was nice that breakfast was included (by the pool no less!), but they needed to include more carb-free options.  Off-street parking was complimentary as well.  Luggage carts were available for use, but the ladies at the front desk did not inform us of them – we saw them after we lugged our bags to our room.  Scooter and bike rentals are only two blocks away and are a great way to see the island.  The best part of our trip was actually recommended to us by the Historic Key West Inns website, under the “To Do” tab – Mellow Ventures.  We booked Mellow Ventures one afternoon and enjoyed their three part excursion (snorkeling, paddle boarding and fishing) and had an amazing time!  We would definitely come back and stay here again. Great rooms, amazing location (in walking distance to most places) and hospitable staff.  You can’t go wrong staying here! :)

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Key Lime Inn.  The cottages were very comfortable and cozy, and we didn’t have to climb stairs.  Breakfast was very nice.

Staff was helpful.  Convenient location.  Pool looked very inviting.  Free parking was great.  You will enjoy your stay.

I picked the Key Lime Inn for our group because of the available parking and overall location.  We all enjoyed the pool and particularly the breakfasts each morning.  The entire staff was very helpful.

Great location, quaint and fits in nicely with the ambiance of Key West. Friendly staff, beds are exceptional. This is my third visit, twice to Key Lime, and one to Lighthouse Court.  It’s our only choice when in Key West.  Did have an issue on check in with my credit card, but those things do occur.  I always recommend staying in the historic district when friends ask.

It was our very first visit to Key West and boy did we luck out by booking at the Key Lime Inn. I just happened to pick it from internet pics and wow!  We absolutely loved the quaint pool area, little cottages and all the greenery.  This was right up our alley…. the 3 girls we dealt with at reception were wonderful and very helpful.  We found out that next time we can take the ferry from Ft Myers and save about 2 hrs…  Our room was so nice, tastefully decorated and had everything we needed. The little courtyard off our room was a pleasant surprise too.  We will DEFINITELY stay at the Key Lime Inn on our next visit to Key West. Oh, and did I mention free parking and it was located near everything.  We walked everywhere… Thank you for a memorable stay.

When my husband recently had to go to Miami for work, I took advantage of the opportunity and joined him in Florida.  We decided that our time together would best be spent in Key West!  So we headed down with our fingers crossed that we could get a hotel room.

I had read about the Key Lime Inn on-line was was hoping they had vacancies…..were we in luck!  The Key Lime Inn had a vacancy and after a fantastic check-in experience with Micheall and Melissa we went to our cottage room.  Everything was immaculate and cozy!  I wandered the grounds, taking pictures of the walkways and cottages, the pool and the main house.  I was enthralled with the ambiance and atmosphere of the Key Lime Inn!!

Plus, every time we had a question or needed help locating something in town, the office staff was always helpful and cheerful!

Thank you, Key Lime Inn, for welcoming two Alaskans into your beautiful home and helping us make our last minute getaway into a Great Escape!!

Our first visit to Key West. Stayed a week at Key Lime Inn, and really enjoyed it. Warm friendly staff, and nice clean room. We liked the fact that it is a smaller property — not crowded — and easy access to its pool, as well to the local activities and restaurants. Nice breakfast by the pool each morning was a great way to start the day.  :)

We chose to walk everywhere, but you can easily rent bicycles, mopeds, and golf carts just down the street.

We found many places to eat (everything is within a 10-15 minute walk). One in particular was worth repeat visits — a modest French café (the Banana Café) on Duval — it was away from the main crowds, and quite pleasant.

Looking forward to visiting Key West and the hotel again.

We came back to the Key Lime Inn because it was my wife’s birthday wish was to return to the Key Lime Inn.  We were greeted warmly and were given a suggestion for breakfast.  While we were out the staff went into our cottage and put birthday greeting post cards in different locations in the cottage.  Drawers, shower lamps and in the closet.  My wife was happily surprised.  Our room was ready early and it was immaculate.  We were treated like family not just guests.  We look forward to our next stay at the Key Lime Inn.

We just returned from a 5-night stay at the Key Lime Inn.  From the minute we checked in until check out we were thrilled to be staying at this hotel.  The front office staff and housekeeping were so friendly and fun.  Particular shout out to “trainee” Claudia and her office mate -who wrote funny notes on our kids post-cards.   The front desk directed us to bike rentals, options for breakfast/dinner, etc..  Our room (16) was spacious and well appointed. Check in /out was fast. We will highly recommend this hotel and other properties under the Historic Key West Inns collection.  We are hoping to be back soon!

One recommendation – a mirror in the main portion of the room or a full length mirror. Tough to get ready with only the mirror in the bathroom.

Thank you for a great stay and hope to see you again soon.

Sincerely,

Marie
Favorite spots – Cowboy bar – had great country bands,  Rum Barrell – fun appetizers on the roof, One Fish Two Fish for the best sunset drinks to go… Lunch at on the beach – Southernmost Beach Cafe!!  Best Beach – Smathers!
