I was in Miami on business for two weeks, and I decided to visit Key West for the weekend. I only stayed for Saturday night at Lighthouse Court, but I wish it could have been longer.

The staff were very friendly at the front desk and were full of pointers for good places to check out for food, drinks, and sightseeing. The bars/restaurants they recommended were all very local-type places – nothing touristy, which is good.

The room was small, but very clean and pleasing to look at. It had a queen bed, a small closet for storage with an iron and ironing board, and small bathroom. My room’s location wasn’t the greatest in terms of exterior view (window and glass door look out to a wall underneath the second story), but it was located right next to the entrance to the inner courtyard, so I didn’t really care.

The inner courtyard is very nice, with a deck/patio area with chairs, tables, and a hammock, and another area with the pool, tables/chairs and mojito bar (which I did not visit). The whole inner courtyard is nicely lit at night, so it’s a place you could sit and enjoy a drink with others.

The location of the inn is great as well – one block from Duval St. and just a few blocks down from where the action starts. It’s a perfect combo of quietness and peace close enough to the mayhem.

If I have a chance to return to Key West for a longer stay next winter, I will definitely try to reserve here first.

I researched Historic Key West Inns online and I feel that our choice of the Lighthouse Court Hotel was excellent. We stayed just one night in the D unit. Next time I want to stay more nights! We got off the Ft. Myers-Key West ferry, walked 3 blocks to Eaton’s bicycle rental and biked over to the hotel. We were 2 hours before check-in, but the desk clerk said our rooms were ready, so she gave us the keys and a 2-for-one drink ticket at the Mojito Bar. She seemed pleased that we arrived by bicycle, and there were several bike racks in front where we had already locked our bikes. I went for a swim in the lovely pool while enjoying my mango drink and the resident rooster.

This is a nice sized place, not too big. It’s got several cottages surrounding the pool area. Some of the rooms are on the 2nd level.

Our room was very clean, the bathroom very large, and we had plenty of towels including striped swim towels. The morning breakfast was more than we expected: coffee, tea, orange juice, fresh fruit, dry cereal & mik, yogurt, ham/cheese croissants, bagels and toast. We split the croissants and toasted them in the nearby toaster oven. Yum! Breakfast service officially started at 8:00, but it was closer to 8:30 by the time everything was brought out. That was not a problem, though, as we left our room at 6:45 a.m. to watch the sunset and found take-out Cuban coffee nearby.

My California cousin will be visiting Key West next month, and I will insist that he stay at the Lighthouse Court hotel.

Perfect location. Great room. Nice setting. Only room for improvement would be: new upper deck, better product in bathroom, less roosters in middle of night! :)

Loved Santiago and Blackfinn restaurants.

Look forward to returning in 2014!

Lighthouse Court was the perfect location for two Senior Citizens – across from the Hemingway House and within walking distance of Duval St., excellent restaurants, and a trolley stop.  Staff were attentive and courteous, breakfast was ample with a special treat on Christmas morning.

One improvement would be to have a shelf or small stand in the bathroom of senior room providing a place for medicines and toiletries.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on 12/24 and 12/25,  and the staff at Lighthouse Court was terrific. Regarding the property, one of our rooms (J2)  was very good, and our suite was not as good.  While the room was clean, it had a musty smell. We enjoyed the local sights, and especially would recommend a bike tour with Lloyd at Moped Hospital.

We had a great visit overall and would stay at the property again.

Thank You

We really liked our room at Lighthouse Court. The front porch is a very nice place to sit and relax before bed, the breakfast is good, the grounds are beautiful, the bed very comfortable. I would suggest more racks for hanging clothes and shelves in the bath for toiletries. Great staff and drinks at the Mojito Bar by the pool were excellent. The hotel is in an excellent location, near everything we wanted to see and do.

We liked Blue Heaven for breakfast (eggs benedict and the omlette). Also the Six Toed Cat had  a wonderful pink shrimp salad… a little spicy but delicious. Their Key Lime pie was to die for.  Joe had the fish of the day sandwich, which was snapper and he loved it. For dinner, we liked Blackfin Bistro and Louie’s Backyard (on the water). It was pricey but upstairs you could have tapas and drinks if you were not that hungry.  Also, drinks were served on the deck on the water.  Beautiful view.  We had reservations for dinner, but we were not that hungry to warrant the price…thus drinks on the deck.  The view of the ocean is truly beautiful from the deck.

I loved the Butterfly Conservatory. It was just amazing.  It is very close to Louie’s.  If you have kids, this is a place that they would love.  There are also tropical birds flying around you with this lush foliage everywhere.  The sunset in Mallory Square is not to be missed.  Also, Hemingway’s is a must see.

There were cute shops everywhere, but I was not interested in shopping.  I did buy a cute mug at the Six Toed Cat.

The whole island is historically very interesting.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Lighthouse Court. The location was ideal, the grounds were very nice, and the rooms very comfortable.  The front desk staff was very courteous and helpful with respect to check-in, assisting with restaurant recommendations, and setting up bicycle rentals. I would stay at the Lighthouse Court again.

This is our 3rd, maybe 4th, time staying at Lighthouse Court Hotel and we were very happy with some of the changes we saw on the property.  It’s been a few years since our last visit and we noticed the shaded area was cleared out and hammocks added, plus games.  Very nice touch!  Including the completion of the Mojito Bar & Cafe area!  If there is any suggestion I would make for an improvement is simply start coffee time at 7:30a instead of 8a.  We weren’t the only ones who were ready for a cup of coffee at that time so I don’t feel like the only crazy early riser.  I got some help from a rooster or two.  :-)  Otherwise, we love the property, our room and bed was comfy, and the staff are so incredibly nice!  I love both Denice and Jeremiah who were ever so helpful.  We’ll see you again soon!
