We recently visited Key West to celebrate our sons 21st birthday! What better place to enjoy turning 21 than Key West! On our trip we were lucky enough to stay at the Merlin Guesthouse! I must say what an amazing place to stay! The staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the one bedroom cottage 18 and my dad stayed in a queen room 11! Our room was very clean and inviting! It had a pullout queen couch so cottage fit 4 of us perfect! My dads queen room was also perfect! The Merlin Guesthouse is located just far enough off the “main drag” that it is very quiet! We got a great nights sleep both nights we were there! Our rooms had everything we needed so we never had to request anything from housekeeping. The check in and check out process smooth! We  would defiantly stay here again And I will recommend the Merlin Guesthouse to any and all my friends traveling to Key West!! Thank you for helping make our sons 21st birthday one he will never forget! We all can’t wait to come visit again!

My husband and drove down to Key West for one night during our vacation at Fort Myers Beach.  We booked one night at the Merlin Guesthouse and were very pleased with everything about the place.  The property itself was cute.  It had a tropical lush green courtyard with a little pool…and the breakfast out there in the morning was very nice.  Our room was clean and quiet.  The location was perfect…very central to getting to everywhere we wanted to go.  Upon check-in the gentleman helping us suggested where we could rent bikes.  That is a must-do on the island…biking everywhere is easy.  We would definitely stay at the Merlin Guesthouse again (we hope to return to Key West sometime) and we would also recommend it to our friends and family.

My fiance and I travel to Key Largo every 3-4 months to scuba dive and we finally made it to Key West for the first time. After reading many reviews online, I decided that we stay at the Merlin Guesthouse. The property and the room are welcoming, very clean, peaceful…perfect. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. We will most definitely be staying there again when we return in May and we will most definitely refer anyone traveling to Key West to stay there. Thank you for making our first time to Key West so memorable!

My wife and I have stayed here a couple times. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and nicely appointed. The Merlin is a block from Duval so you are right in the heart of the city. Close enough to the action but far enough away that you cannot hear it at night.

They helped us with bike rentals and suggestions for dinner.

We will stay with them again the next time we venture to Key West.

We loved the property, the location, the room (maisonette, can’t remember the number). All great. Also the small pool area is sort of nice. People at reception where very helpful and housekeeping staff were friendly.

We cannot say the same for the central place of the hotel, the pool area. The bar personnel was not very friendly, no pro-active service and the area gets a little messy at breakfast time. We think it would take very little to get this right, after which your place would get a full thumbs up from us.

I really enjoyed my stay and wanted to stay longer.  Both the office managers were very helpful and friendly as well as everyone I encountered on my trip.  My favorite excursion was my snorkeling/ocean kayaking trip.  Had the weather been nicer I would have spent more time on the water; but, I’m not complaining!  I have recommended your hotel to my friends.

The only criticism I have is that the TV was mounted flush to the wall, which made the screen too dark to see the picture while either sitting or lying on the bed.  I found it frustrating.

My husband & I  just left the Merlin Guesthouse yesterday after a 3 night stay with 4 other couples. Each room is unique & clean & gorgeous; loved the fridge; loved the pool, all of the places to enjoy the outdoors; the breakfast outdoors, the location (walked everywhere) & everyone at the Merlin Guesthouse was so friendly & so so accommodating. I would recommend the place to anyone heading to Key West. If we return to Key West we will absolutely stay at the Merlin. Thanks so much!!

This is our 3rd or 4th time to stay at Merlin Guesthouse.  The location is perfect –not to close to the noise, not too far from the fun at either end of Duval.  The rooms are clean, the staff is great, and we enjoy the relaxing breakfast.

One SNAFU.  There were three of us using the cottage with the pull-out sofa.  We were not told (until we were leaving) that there was a pad that we could have gotten to put on top of the uncomfortable mattress (which was more like a box spring).

We had a king suite, room 22, which was in the very back of the property. The room was very large with nice, upgraded tile floors and a kitchenette area with a small modern fridge, and stone tile bath. We had absolutely no issue with street or neighbor noise. The location is excellent – just one block off Duval. You can walk everywhere. We walked to the famous Blue Heaven for brunch just up the same block, but I did go see what was out for breakfast – big muffins, breads, yogurts, fruit, hard boiled eggs…it was displayed attractively too. I didn’t try to connect to wi-fi so I can’t comment on that, although the front desk will tell you that it only works in the common areas. Every room is different here. The queen room is small, no frills, but clean. The one-bedroom suite is quite lovely with a full kitchen, big table, etc. Nice for a family. Not many guest houses are kid-friendly – this one is. I had my child with me and we were totally comfortable and felt very welcome. The only downside is parking is on the street. If you can’t find parking, they can direct you to the city garage.
