My daughter and I stayed at the Merlin Guesthouse recently on a trip to Key West.  It is a gem of a find.  Clean, comfortable room with character, a soothing courtyard with pool, breakfast in the courtyard and surface parking included with the room.  Very enjoyable.  We look forward to returning soon.

This was our second visit to a Historic Key West Inns hotel. This is a great place to stay in the Heart of Key West! Everyone in the front office and housekeeping staff was very accommodating and friendly. We had several questions regarding the area and they were able to answer all of them thoroughly. In addition, the room was very nice, clean, and recently remodeled!  I would recommend this hotel to anyone planning to visit Key West.

At the Merlin Guesthouse, we received a very nice welcome, the rooms, the breakfast area and the backyard are cute and cozy. The location is perfect, on a quiet street at one corner block from the action, just between the pier and the small beaches.

We highly recommand this place for a warm stay in Key West!

My husband and I have stayed at the Merlin Guesthouse 3 times now and can’t wait to go back.  The staff are great.  We always feel like it is our hidden little secret in Key West.  Every year we visit for a couple days and look forward to Jordan del Gato and the rest of the MGH staff.  I am truly amazed at how many rooms they have in such a small hotel area, yet you hardly ever see or hear anyone else.  So close to Duval and all the action, yet just far enough away to not be bothered by it when it is quiet time.

This year we stayed in Room 22 and absolutely loved it.  I will likely be requesting this room again.

Can’t wait to come back and visit again.

We stayed in a one-bedroom cottage with our 2 boys.  It was very comfortable and a great location!  Easy walk everywhere but very quiet, and we found on- street parking.  The staff were friendly and helpful.  Would definitely return!

We’ve had the pleasure of staying at the Merlin for our anniversary for almost 5 years. We were in  room 20 for our honeymoon and we refuse to stay in any other room…unless my wonderful husband waits for the last minute to reserve. Linda and Ken are the best. You won’t find better people; the service is phenomenal. It’s like going over to your best friends house…it’s not yours, but dang if it doesn’t feel like it. The location is ridiculously good. Off the main line but steps to all the lovable craziness. You won’t be disappointed.

We enjoyed three nights in the Merlin Guesthouse, and would definitely come back! The room was cozy and beautiful, with polished wood floors and exposed beams overhead. The staff was extremely friendly and inviting, and we loved the bonus Omelette station for breakfast on Christmas day! We appreciated being slightly off Duval, which offered a more peaceful environment, just far enough from all of the amenities.

My wife and I came back to Key West this year and stayed at the Merlin Guesthouse again.  When planning the trip, there wasn’t even a question about where we would stay.  From the amazing rooms (#13 and #20 especially) to the amazing staff and low key environment, you can’t go wrong.

Plus, Jordan Del Gato the cat is defacto Inn mascot and we are convinced Ernest Hemingway reincarnated.

It was a short stroll back from Duval Street after dark, and yet the two blocks was far enough away to be free from the noise.  My daughter and I felt safe when we returned to the guesthouse, because we didn’t have to walk down a lot of dark streets.

The staff seemed genuinely friendly and we enjoyed visiting with them.  The enclosed garden area was comfortable and inviting.

Our room  #12 was clean and quiet.  We thought it could use a few more hooks in the bedroom and maybe a small chair or luggage stand.  Our suitcases were on the floor.  We don’t use the dressers in hotels, having left items behind too many times in the past. The Keurig machine and fridge were nice to have.

We had a view of the housekeepers closet from our front room, so spending over $1000 for 3 nights seemed a little….. mah.  However, we did feel comfortable at the guesthouse on the whole.

The little restaurant across the street, Deuces, was very very good.  We enjoyed Smather’s beach and our visit to the Truman Little White House, especially.  We had fun watching the sunset from Mallory Square, but would recommend watching from the Fort Zach State Park for a quieter atmosphere.

Key West was a great place to spend Christmas Eve.  We loved having a green and balmy Christmas Day.  It wasn’t overly crowded until the 26th.  Either way, we were happily enjoying the historic atmosphere as well as the festive vibe.
