Our kids refer to the Merlin as “Jordan’s” and are always excited to visit. Linda greets us daily by name and makes us feel so welcome and at home. The housekeeping staff seems so happy and content, and their friendly greetings so sincere. Check in and check out were very quick and smooth, the room exceptionally clean, and breakfast delicious. Small dustpans with whisk brooms in each unit would be a nice addition, so we can more easily clean up crumbs, leaves, and other goodies that follow us into the unit. One new place we really enjoyed was Deuce’s Off the Hook across the street – what a wonderful and delicious menu! We always recommend Historic Key West Inns, and definitely feel like home there!

My husband & I have been attending the poker run for the past 20 years  and usually try to find a place that we can attend yearly.  This was a great place and we enjoyed it.  My only complaint (which had nothing to do directly with facility) was another guest who was complaining about our music, I did accommodate her however, I did find it ridiculous that she would expect another guest paying good $$ to accommodate her work schedule!! I explained to staff after 2nd time being asked to keep noise down and (Linda was very understanding ). I would definitely stay again.

Well I’d like to begin by saying I am so glad we found this place. Our stay was perfect from the staff to the other customers, the rooms were well kept, the staff was well trained and very kind to us. We got in late on Friday and check in was hampered by another demanding customer in front of us, but your staff was more than helpful to him even if I thought that guy acted like thinking the world owed him something. We do not have a single bad thing to say about our stay. We had breakfast while poolside, the room was very clean and staff was quite and efficient. We stayed in room 22 and noticed the door knob was a little sloppy, being that it was the only lock, it could have been more secure. But that is really looking for something to complain about. I did lose my door key and surprisingly had to pay 25 dollars to replace which shouldn’t be so steep of a price, but that’s just my opinion. We loved it and will try to stay there again if at all possible … Thanks again for being so professional.

I just returned from a weekend trip in Key West with two friends and we loved this hotel!! It’s perfectly located about 2 blocks from Duval St, and since it’s on a less busy road, we didn’t hear any noise at night. We stayed in room #16 – with a great balcony and the hammock right below us. The room was perfect for us, large king size bed and a section sofa. It looked like the room had recently been renovated – or maybe just very well maintained since the sofa, furniture and TV looked pretty new.The staff was really friendly and nice, I called a week before to add a third person to my reservation and they were really accommodating – making sure our room was large enough for us, etc. There’s a full breakfast served every morning of local bagels, muffins, cereal, fruit, yogurt, coffee, tea, milk, orange juice, etc. There was also a Keurig and k-cups in our room! I would definitely stay here again, it was very clean, there was the nice sized pool, perfectly located to all the sights (half mile to southernmost point and the mile 0 marker, 2 blocks from Ernest Hemingways house, etc) and the grounds were so pretty with the trees and flowers surrounding the property.

The Merlin is always our first choice of places to stay-the staff is always the friendliest and most welcoming. The rooms are great, housekeeping staff sweet and attentive and Jordan is always up for a brief scratch behind the ears!

My partner and I came with the intention of selecting a guesthouse to use as our base for our wedding next year.  We were not familiar with the Merlin, but the info Mary Simmons provided us made us think this might be the place.  As, in fact, it is. We have decided to use it for ourselves and our wedding guests.  The property is charming without being at all stuffy.  Linda at the front desk was helpful and friendly throughout our stay.  We loved room 14 and will probably choose that as our room in the future. The breakfast was better than we expected.  The chilled spa/pool was welcome in the September heat.

Our group of four ladies had a fantastic time in Key West and staying at Merlin Guesthouse was a big part of that.  We knew almost nothing about Key West before arriving to celebrate my birthday.  How lucky we are we chose these accommodations.  The location was absolutely perfect.  Duval Street is about 1 mile long.  We were at the .5 mile mark and just  two (short) blocks off Duval.  We walked everywhere except the day we rented bikes (from a place a block away) so we could go to the beach further away.  Our room was spacious and immaculate.  We received daily service including a little organization of our bathroom toiletries and even fixing our coffeemaker.  The front desk staff were extremely polite and helpful.  They were accommodating by allowing us to leave our luggage in the office when our plane arrived early and left late.  They also seamlessly handled billing and allowed the four of us to split the bill.

We spent the majority of our days by the perfectly sized pool.  It was the right temperature to give some relief from the summer heat and we loved the jets.  It was an extra perk that tea, sunscreen, towels and magazines were stocked under the nearby cabana. The cabana was similarly impressively stocked for breakfast.  It had everything we wanted: fresh fruit, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, light local pastries, cereal.

Overall, the four of us agreed that when we return to Key West, there is no need to look anywhere other than Merlin Guesthouse for a great place to stay.  We were 100% satisfied.
