I went to Key West for a wedding at Fort Zachery Taylor State Park (beautiful at sunset). The bride just told us to pick a hotel in Key West, everything is close. That wasn’t much help because there are a ton of hotels in Key West. During my search I kept seeing the Chelsea House Hotel. I wanted something modern but all of those hotels were super expensive. I booked one hotel and cancelled because it was on the north side of the island. So finally I booked Chelsea House and was I happy I did.
When I checked in, I just drove 3 hours from Miami airport. The staff was super professional, knowledgeable, nice and accommodating. I was returning my rental car the next morning so he waived the parking fee which I thought was SUPER nice. He also upgraded me to another room, I was appreciative. He must of seen I was tired. I stayed in room number 7, not sure what my other room would of look like but this room was amazing. It was Shabby Chic at its best. The rustic wood walls with modern leather furniture. The chandelier over the bed as a great touch. The mini fridge was perfect, they anticipate your needs by having wine glasses in the fridge cooling and waiting your arrival, AWESOME. I wish they would give bottles of water after they clean you room that would be a nice touch. AND THE BATHROOM SOLD ME. Bathroom was very modern white tiles and a huge mirror. What I liked most about the Chelsea is that it was easy to find, 2 blocks away from Duval Street, walking distance everywhere. Many days I walked to the Southernmost Point or Mallory Square (now I wish I would of rented a scooter, which was a book away). It’s also very close to restaurants. I visited Duffy’s and Better Than Sex dessert restaurant. Beer and wine was easy to find at the 24 hour CVS and if you have the last night munchies, the 24 hour Denny’s is 2 blocks in one direction and Wing Masters is in another. The pool was very relaxing and you could sit in the shade or under the sun. My check out process was easy.
We partied too hard the night before so I called at 7am to extend my check out and they gave me until 12noon which was perfect. The staff was very accommodating with leaving your luggage until you leave, calling you a cab, printing your boarding pass and offering you the ability not to leave the grounds and relaxing by the pool until you leave. Over all the stay was great!!! I will return to Key West. I know they have a total of 6 properties but the Chelsea House Hotel really set the bar high and has a piece of my heart. While I would like to try their other hotels, I will stick with Chelsea House Hotel.By: Tiffany Penn on April 11, 2016
