While in South Florida visiting a friend, we decided to take a little girl’s trip down to Key West, just a one night jaunt (6/2/14 to 6/3/14). Our experience with everyone at Historic Key West Inns far exceeded our expectations. The gal who helped us with our reservation was kind and patient, she saved the room for us, until we could finally make up our mind (I called her back within the hour). We were torn between two of your properties and she assisted us in making our final decision, on the Key Lime Inn.
Upon arrival, before noon; the front desk staff readily pre-registered us and were most helpful in suggesting tours and places to see. We ended up selecting the city tour trolley with on and off privileges as well as a nice narrated tour of the town. This was money well spent and we were even able to purchase the Hemingway House Tour at a discount through the trolley company. SCORE!
Our trip was plagued with rain and clouds both days. Upon return to the Inn, the lobby was crowded checking in customers and answering questions, one of the gals at the desk noticed we were patiently waiting, when she found out we were already registered, she excused herself between customers and brought us our room keys. The room was lovely (2 double beds), clean, and despite its small size, had ample room and storage space for all of our stuff (we girls don’t travel lightly). Exhausted from a full day of running around, our intent to blaze the town that night quickly came to an sizzling end resulting in us ordering pizza to the room. My friend was hell bent on a piece of Key Lime Pie, and she consulted with the staff as to the closest place to secure the tangy delight. A two minute walk to a nearby dinner house and she was back in no time with our desert.
Sadly. we were checking out the following day. Breakfast poolside was comprehensive. The area was clean, and staff stood by ready to assist anyone with any questions or needs. Everyone on the staff was friendly and helpful, from reception, to housekeeping, to the groundskeepers and maintenance guys. Still not done seeing the sights, but still needed to check out, the front desk staff graciously allowed us to keep the car there most of the day and lent us an umbrella for the day’s outing. We were about 20 minutes late returning, nevertheless, we were greeted with smiles and well wishes for our trip home.
Despite the rain, we had a great time and enjoyed our accommodations. With hundreds of places to choose from, what sets anyplace apart is the level of service provided and the cleanliness of the place. I only wish we could have stayed longer. Bravo to the Key Lime Inn and their staff. I will definitely choose the Key Lime Inn again and recommend to all traveling to Key West.By: Laura Pappas on June 7, 2014
