I researched Historic Key West Inns online and I feel that our choice of the Lighthouse Court Hotel was excellent. We stayed just one night in the D unit. Next time I want to stay more nights! We got off the Ft. Myers-Key West ferry, walked 3 blocks to Eaton’s bicycle rental and biked over to the hotel. We were 2 hours before check-in, but the desk clerk said our rooms were ready, so she gave us the keys and a 2-for-one drink ticket at the Mojito Bar. She seemed pleased that we arrived by bicycle, and there were several bike racks in front where we had already locked our bikes. I went for a swim in the lovely pool while enjoying my mango drink and the resident rooster.
This is a nice sized place, not too big. It’s got several cottages surrounding the pool area. Some of the rooms are on the 2nd level.
Our room was very clean, the bathroom very large, and we had plenty of towels including striped swim towels. The morning breakfast was more than we expected: coffee, tea, orange juice, fresh fruit, dry cereal & mik, yogurt, ham/cheese croissants, bagels and toast. We split the croissants and toasted them in the nearby toaster oven. Yum! Breakfast service officially started at 8:00, but it was closer to 8:30 by the time everything was brought out. That was not a problem, though, as we left our room at 6:45 a.m. to watch the sunset and found take-out Cuban coffee nearby.
My California cousin will be visiting Key West next month, and I will insist that he stay at the Lighthouse Court hotel.By: Sally on January 17, 2013
