We first came to the Merlin Guest House in 2013 with four of my high school classmates (from 1964) . It was a memorable experience that we all relished. The Merlin was the perfect place to get together and enjoy a bit of paradise, just parking the car and leaving it there for the duration, relaxing in the tropical splendor and clean, comfortable accommodations, bobbing in the spa/pool and reminiscing and walking to nearby restaurants for great dinners. We knew that if we never returned, “We would always have Key West and the Merlin”.
Well, we are going to return with five of my classmates … in 2017. And to make our plans and take a short vacation of our own, my wife and I recently returned to experience it once again. We were delighted to find that nothing had changed at the Merlin and renewed our association with Kenneth and Linda, who do an outstanding job manning the desk for painless check-in/outs and keeping the property in order, including that iced tea everyone talks about. They and all the staff are most friendly and helpful, making for a most pleasant stay.
I was pleased to find that a pool lift for the disabled had been installed and this won over my disabled classmate who had been a little reluctant to join us. Now he will be enjoying the thoughtful accessibility at the Merlin and bobbing in the pool with the rest of us. Thank-you Merlin.
Overall, we can’t say enough about our stays at the Merlin. I have the feeling that my classmates and I will be coming back again and again to renew our friendships and relive the special moments that only the Merlin Guest House provides us.By: David Bogart on June 21, 2016
