I and my wife stayed at the Key Lime Inn for two nights during Christmas weekend. The rooms were spacious and clean. Their rooms have some amount of seclusion from the street which is a big plus. Most hotels have windows facing the streets and if you have been to key west you know that the streets are small and could get busy during holidays.

The breakfast was fresh with a surprise addition on Christmas morning which we really enjoyed. Good job to the hotel staff!

My husband and I arrived  in Key West for the first time three days before this past Christmas. We had come by sea (the Key West Express to be exact) , and the initial plan was to leave on the 6 pm ferry the next day. After discovering that the hotel we’d booked was way on the other end of the island from the dock, far from the energy of downtown Key West, we decided to cancel our reservation and find something else. As luck would have it, we spotted a Vacancy sign outside of Cypress House. Upon entering we were greeted by Scott, who quoted us a rate for a room which miraculously enough was available. We jumped on it, and within minutes we were given our room keys and shown where breakfast was served as well as the daily happy hour by the pool (“‘liming’, as they call it in Jamaica”, Scott explained.) Finally we were led to our room, which was immaculate and to our delight was equipped with a large tub; however, as we had arrived just in time to lime, that would have to wait until later. We sipped some sangria and snacked on the deliciously crispy conch fritters poolside before heading to Mallory Square to take in the sunset.

The next day after breakfast and a swift checkout, we left our bags near the concierge desk and headed over to Fort Zachary State Park, where we swam and watched the local wildlife. After our afternoon in the sun, we returned to Cypress House for our final Key West happy hour, this time with a delightful, sprightly rum punch. We probably should have double checked where we were to board the ferry at some point during our imbibing, because when we arrived at the assumed location at 5:45 pm we were told that the departure terminal was in fact fifteen minutes away by foot. We jumped into a taxi, but by the time we arrived at the correct spot at 5:53 the boat was gone. We were resigned to another night in Key West (cue the violins.) Our only concern was whether or not we would be able to be so lucky as to find a room with such ease for a second night in a row, especially given that it was so close to Christmas. We headed back to Cypress House, the place where we had found such sweet solace the previous night, and Scott took one look at us and laughed. After apologizing profusely for not having saved us a room, he made a call over to their sister hotel Lighthouse Court and secured a space for us. Although there were no bathtub or liming at Lighthouse Court, we enjoyed our stay there very much. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and having Hemingway House across the street gave us the opportunity to see something which we wouldn’t have had it not been for our impromptu extended stay! I would highly recommend both properties to anyone visiting Key West.

We arrived at Key West close to 11 pm, and the front desk was very friendly and helpful in welcoming us. The room we stayed in was very clean and nice, breakfast at 8 am near the pool was very tasty. It was a wonderful stay at Key Lime Inn!

We spent 3 nights at Key Lime Inn the week before Christmas. We loved our stay. Staff were very helpful, happy, and pleasant. Our room was clean and spacious. We were within walking distance of Duval street and the pier. We would come back for sure.

Our family’s stay at the Lighthouse Court the week prior to Christmas was perfect in every way.  We selected the Lighthouse Court online based on availability, pricing, proximity to historic sites and the kitchen in the Hemingway Suite.  Then, we crossed our fingers, hoping it would live up to the photos and the reviews.  It. did!!   The suite and two adjacent rooms were very spacious, clean, and shared a large outdoor balcony that was private since we had the only three rooms on the second floor level. Each room had a unique layout and its own character. The Lighthouse Court is directly across the street from the Hemingway house and is within walking distance of everything we wanted to see and do.  In the five days we were there, we never moved our cars!  Everyone who worked there was very gracious and attentive. I look forward to a return visit!

My wife, Barb, and I have been visiting Key West for over 20 years. We wouldn’t consider staying anywhere other than Merlin Guest House. Thanks to a great staff from housekeepers to the front desk folks for always making our stay special. I’d like to give a special shout out to Linda and Kenneth for their efforts. They even printed our boarding passes for us. And of course, dare I mention Merlin without noting our good friend Jordan Del Gato? He was outside our door each morning and there to greet us when we returned from exploring the city.

For its location, Merlin offers the best value in Key West. Centrally located, it’s within walking distance of everything in old town. And now, our newest favorite restaurant, Deuces Off the Hook, is right across the street!

We have stayed in several different rooms and even a cottage over the years but our favorite is number 12. It’s cozy, comfortable and a bit more private. It even has a refrigerator and Keurig coffeemaker. Thanks to the staff for honoring our request for this room. Thanks again for a great stay and we’ll see you next year.

P.S. One request, could you please provide more than strawberry banana yogurt?

This was our second stay at Chelsea House (we have stayed twice at Key Lime Inn too) and it was even better this time. Staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms are immaculate, great internet connection. Breakfast each morning by the pool a varied choice of food and lovely gardens in which to enjoy your breakfast or just sit and read in the tranquility away from the Key West madness. The location is great just a few blocks away from Duval so most things in walking distance and for us it was great just to park up the car and not drive for the duration of our stay. We will certainly be back.

We loved our stay at the Cypress House Hotel.  The room was generously sized, with a private porch setting.  The staff was friendly, welcoming, and accommodating of any needs, including late evening requests and keeping our luggage after checkout.

The pool is small, but we don’t go to Key West for a hotel pool. We would have liked to have different drinks available at Liming (sangria was good, rum punch not so much).

Recommendations around town:Leave your car parked; rent a scooter or golf cart (Sunshine Scooters is half a block down Caroline Street).  Dining: Bistro Sole – quiet, relaxed and off the main strip.  Quick lunch: Duetto Pizza.  Drinks: The Rum Bar – great Rum Punch and aged rums.  Attraction: Key West Ghost and Mysteries Tour with Ted is totally worth the time and money.

Our stay could not have been better.  Staff well versed on the ins and outs of Key West and very friendly from the check-in process through to those responsible for the room cleaning.  This site provides a terrific oasis for relaxation to complement the many activities, sites and sounds afforded by Duval Street and Key West.  We would highly recommend based on price, location and staff.
