I was searching for hotels online for a one night stay in Key West for the weekend when I happened to come across the Merlin Guest House. Being that I usually stay at well known, bigger hotels, I was skeptical about staying at a more smaller, privately owned guest house. After reading many reviews online about the Merlin, I went ahead and booked an economy queen guest room for my girl friend and I to stay in for the weekend. Upon arriving at the guest house, the streets were PACKED with cars, which isn’t unusual for a Key West weekend.

Fortunately for us, the Merlin Guest House has a private parking lot in the rear of their property for Merlin guests to park in, with a fee of $10.00 per night, which is totally worth not having to park and walk to your car 10 blocks down to find a spot (but beware – if you have a  truck you will probably have a VERY hard time getting in and out of the parking lot and back onto the street, it is SMALL ). After parking in the private parking area, we than went to check in, which was a very easy process and the staff were all friendly and helpful. We were given a key to our room. Knowing that this was an economy queen room we weren’t expecting much, the name says it all. BUT, although it was small, it was perfect for what we were looking for. The beds were clean, floor was the original, historic dark wood and creaked a little bit, and the bathroom was small but accommodated us very well. Instead of using cheap shampoo, condition, and soap like most hotels, they give you quality organic supplies and you don’t feel dry when coming out of the shower.  The walk from the hotel to Duval street is perfect, it will literally take you 1 minute from the time you lock your door to the time you hit the corner of Duval, which is one of the very main reasons I chose this hotel was because of the distance and how close it was to everything you could imagine, scooter rentals, shopping, bars, and a delicious desert restaurant that everyone should try called Better Than Sex.

The hotel staff did make us aware that there was a breakfast in the morning near the pool, however after being out on Duval all night I woke up to late for that.

I would recommend this hotel and the economy queen guest room to anyone looking to stay in Key West right on Duval that is travelling with two or less people.

This is the second time we have stayed at the Lighthouse Court Hotel and again it was a wonderful stay. Unfortunately I do not remember the representative’s names that we came in contact with but they were friendly, accommodating and always willing to help in any way they could.  We (myself, my mother and my teenage nephew) stayed in room J1 during our 2015 and our most recent visit and we found the room to be decorated lovely with a Key West feel and very clean.  The check-in/checkout process was seamless and the representatives answered all our questions on how to get to points of interest on our trip.  We rented a scooter and bikes and found the parking easy on the property for these vehicles. We most definitely would recommend this property to others and as a matter of fact have done so a few times already.

The Lighthouse Court Hotel is exactly the type of hotel we were looking to find in Key West – it is quaint, cute, perfect location and the staff is great – We couldn’t ask for anything more and we look forward to our next visit.

Excellent Customer Service began when we called for reservations and a “live” person with a sweet voice answered the phone. Every staff member we encountered on the grounds, in the office, and at breakfast exemplified their commitment to an outstanding guest experience. Everyone was helpful and smiled!  Our room was immaculate and reminiscent of old Key West, but thoroughly updated and comfortably furnished.  And the BED! Top notch- great nights sleep in quiet surroundings.  Thank you for a great experience and hospitality.

We arrived (3 couples) on 7/5 for a week to celebrate my birthday and our friends anniversary. Check in was a breeze. The ladies in the office could not do enough for us.

My friend shipped down decorations so the hotel could decorate the room for me. What a surprise. The manager (Matt) gave us a bottle of champagne.

The location was great. Not to close to Duval. Breakfast was good;  juice, coffee, tea, local bagels & croissants, cereal, yogurt, oranges and bananas.

The pool area was nice. Very clean. Sometimes it was hard to get a lounge chair. There are 2 tables with chairs so we were able to use them. Towels were never a problem. We would go to the beach and then jump in the pool when we got back to the hotel.

The rooms were very nice. Not all rooms have a closet to hang clothes or a dresser. If this is a must make sure you let them know. Our first choice was to all be near each other. They were able to accommodate us.

Erin and the other lady (Katie?) were very nice. We would see Erin almost everyday. She was very friendly and gave us many suggestions. Matthew (manager) was great. He told us a few different places to go to.

Just down the block from the hotel is a bike rental store (Moped Hospital). It cost $45 for a week rental.

I would recommend this boutique hotel. Great location and great staff.

We stayed in three rooms during beginning of July 2016, a somewhat hot period. Our rooms were across a busy street which we needed to cross to reach the main building and pool area. The rooms were equipped with air conditioning, but some had a nice ceiling fan. The Pool was quite small. Breakfast was served in the pool area with limited no of seats. Nice personnel.

The Lighthouse Court Hotel was conveniently located and quiet in the evening.  The pool was really nice, but should stay open a little later.  My room was very comfortable, the air conditioning worked great.  Complimentary breakfast was good and plentiful. A few more hooks or racks to hang wet items to dry would be a plus!  Overall a great place to stay and more affordable than others.

Exceptional location. Can walk to historical sites. I loved the cottage like rooms with porch. The lime decor was cooling and the bathroom was most spacious. All staff were courteous and helpful. Lastly, I loved the pool! It truly satisfied my need to be immersed in water, and I learned to swim in deep in! Thank you Key Lime Inn!

I’d never been to the keys before and, if and when I do again, I will make sure to give you a repeat costumer. Everyone…I can say nothing negative about my room or the services and the location of the hotel is the best I saw on the island ..thanks again for a great time.
