My husband and I didn’t want to have a car on this trip so decided to give the Merlin Guesthouse a try. It was perfectly situated for our purposes. It was clean and comfortable and all the employees friendly. Breakfast every morning was delish! We made use of the wonderful pool and sitting in the courtyard enjoying Key West breezes.

We didn’t want to leave. :( but hope to see you all soon though. ;)

We met up with 3 other couples to celebrate our mutual friend’s 40th birthday. The last time my wife and I stayed at the Merlin Guesthouse was 15 years ago. We really enjoyed ourselves then and recommended it as the place to stay for this celebration. No one was disappointed. All 4 couples stayed at the Merlin Guesthouse and truly enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere of the rooms, pool and patio area.

Each morning we would gather around the pool area for breakfast and make our plans for the day. Being just a short walk to Duval Street made this a convenient location whether we were going shopping, touring or dining.

Truly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was clean, beautiful and the staff was great. I will refer this to anyone who asks and probably visit again next year.

Thanks for the great stay and service!

We spent two nights at the Cypess House for a surprise birthday trip for my husband.  I wanted to be close to a certain location and cypess house looked like our best option.  I also had a few special requests regarding the rooms.

After a hectic trip to Russia, where I rescued my wife from four (4) months with her mother (tongue-in-cheek), it was a great idea to head for the Lighthouse Court!   We unwound, relaxed, regrouped the brain cells … and started a second honeymoon.   The staff is phenomenal, cheerful, ready to share a laugh, and very informative about the area as well as the hotel.   We have already been brainstorming to find the date for a return visit.   Highly recommend the Lighthouse Court for a place to “chill”.

My husband and I stayed at the Cypress House for 3 nights 9/28-10/1/2014. We arrived Sunday late afternoon just in time for “liming hour” after the drive down from Miami airport. Kelly greeted us warmly, showed us to our lovely room and we went right down to the pool courtyard for complimentary cocktails and snacks. The pool and breakfast dining area is very inviting and peaceful. You can mingle with other guests or find a private area to relax.

We reserved a 2nd floor king room with a private porch which faced Caroline Street. We looked out on the activity of the street and the gardens below. Palm trees in front of the building gave us privacy. The room and bathroom was clean and recently updated.

Coffee was available at 7:00am and breakfast at 8:00am. Offered everyday was cereals, yogurt, hardboiled eggs, pastries, muffins, toast, fruit, juice, milk along with a warm choice like biscuits and gravy or ham, egg and cheese on an english muffin. Perfect for getting the day going and not over indulging.

I didn’t get the names of the other staff which changed shifts over the 3 days we were there, but everyone was pleasant, helpful and respectful.

A lot of research went into our choice of where to stay in Key West from a resort, a larger hotel and or something with a water view. In the end, I am glad we made this choice of a Bed & Breakfast within the history of Key West which I found so interesting. It was a very short walk to Duval Street because you are in Old Town, but at the same you can enjoy privacy in the “old” Keys.

Two comments that have not effect on my excellent rating:

1) While Kelly gave us a wonderful reception when we arrived, which is just a check in point, it could be made a bit more cozy as a first impression.

2) I am a non-smoker and rooms are “no smoking”. I would have welcomed “no smoking” in the courtyard pool and breakfast dining area.

Would stay here again or at another Historic Key West Inns hotel. We checked out their Merlin Guesthouse down Simonton Street and the rooms were amazing.

From the moment we walked in the front gate, we were greeted with nothing but smiles! Every single person we came across was always so polite and so much fun to talk to. Kenneth was great to us! He was always happy to get us anything we needed, even though we locked BOTH keys in our room within 15 mins of arrival. Housekeeping staff was polite and considerate. The Maintenance guy went out of his way to make sure he didn’t get in ours. He was more than happy to put off staining the deck until we knew we would be gone for awhile. Everything was perfect. From the comfortable room, to the relaxing pool, to delicious breakfast. We couldn’t have asked for more. We have already planned our next stay, but this time we are bringing a lot more people. We loved it so much that we will be booking 12-15 rooms for our wedding guests in June!

Thank you and see you all in June!

This quaint, comfortable little resort across the street from Ernest Hemmingway’s historic home, is just steps away from the hustle and bustle of Duval St. and yet has the feel of a quiet retreat when you’re inside its walls. The courtyard with the pool is a welcome resting place with the convenience of the bar and café right there.  Rooms are modern and clean and the staff is beyond helpful. We checked in at 10 pm and took a short walk down Duval street and happened on Mango’s bar and grill and had the best dinner of our entire stay. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone, in a heartbeat!

The staff is very kind and helpful. I do like the iced tea in the lobby. The discount cards were an added bonus. Rooms are very clean and nice. Will be sure to stay again when in town.  Thanks again for the” southernmost point in u.s.” hospitality.

My wife and I stayed 4 nights and we had our 2 small dogs with us.  The room was clean and accomodating.  The front desk staff were helpful and courteous. The pool area was nice and the continental breakfast great.  Not many places take dogs and this worked out well for us and the pets.
