I loved staying at The Lighthouse Court. One block from the hustle of Duval Street, it was an oasis of calm in the middle of everything. The pool was lovely, the snack bar with drinks was quite welcoming after a day of activities. The breakfast was simple yet varied with fresh fruit, yogurts, muffins, bagles, granola and delicious coffee and teas. It was also fun watching the cat chase the rooster around the pool! I know some people complained about the rooster waking them up at 3am, but the air conditioner was enough to keep the noise muffled for me. The staff was excellent and did a nice job of keeping the place clean and running smoothly. I would love to return!

Blue Heaven, a short walk from the hotel was 5 star food in a fun and funky former brothel. We went several times for breakfast and dinner, and we were never served a mediocre meal. Wonderful!

The Hemingway House, right across the street from The Lighthouse Court Motel was very interesting, beautiful, educational, and fun. Our guide looked like he could be Hemingway’s younger brother and was full of information that he offered in a most entertaining way

We had a minor problem with our room that I woke up to on my birthday. The Manager was so wonderful about it and upgraded us to a beautiful suite upstairs with its own private deck and gorgeous marble bathroom. She made my birthday one of the best every and will always remember her kindness. I highly recommend a stay here (we were there for 3 days). Right across the street from the Hemingway house and an easy walk anywhere. Enjoy!!

The courtyard/pool area is very, very pleasant. The mojito’s at your bar, excellent. Breakfast could have more choices. Would have enjoyed a bit of fresh citrus or some sort of tropical fruit, even a banana! Only fruit offered, an apple. Our room needed a place to hang clothes and a few hangars. Staff was very helpful.

The room was a little small and most of them face the pool/bar arena, so noise, especially around Happy Hour, can be an issue. However, the location was unbeatable, and the little bar/cafe was cute. We got two free drink coupons, so it was fun to start the evening with a cocktail around the pool.

The sunset celebration is really fun and free. Extra bonus if the cat entertainer is there

Banana Cafe – amazing food and atmosphere – the crepes were an unexpected delivery but totally worth it. Hats off to the chef. Can’t wait to visit again. So good we ate there twice.

Did not have enough time visit everything but Mallory Square at sunset was very nice. The street performers were entertaining but took up a lot of time.

Upon arriving we were unsure of what to expect. We had been to Key West before, but had never noticed Merlin’s Guesthouse before. We were beyond pleasantly surprised. The compound full of quaint cottages was absolutely marvelous. It allowed you to fell as though you were part of the Key West culture, yet tucked far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet as well. The grounds really made you feel as though you were immersed in the laid back Key West culture. Not to mention that the staff was extremely friendly! They made us feel as though we were staying with family, not at a hotel. The location was absolutely ideal – perfectly in the middle between the Southernmost Point and Mallory Square and 2 blocks away from Duval so we were close enough, yet far enough away to have peace when returning for the night. I can’t suggest this place to enough people and can’t wait until we can return ourselves.

Our favorite part of the trip was getting to try all the marvelous restaurants Key West had to offer. Caroline’s and Fogherty’s were absolutely perfect. The food was amazing, the portions were generous, and they were situated perfectly on Duval street to enjoy all the atmosphere Key West had to offer. We had some of the most amazing Key Lime Pie at the Six-Toed Cat. Mangoes also offered a delicious menu, as well! We felt our mission was to find the best conch fritters Key West had to offer and after trying many, we found Sloppy Joe’s to be our absolute favorite.

While in Key West we took a Rum and Reggae snorkeling and sunset cruise with Fury cruises. Absolutely perfect!

My boyfriend brought myself and 12 of my friends down to Key West for my 60th birthday party. We also surprised everyone by getting married two weeks prior. Everyone loved their rooms/cottages…believe me, my friends can be critical. The pool area turned out to be a great happy hour/gathering place in the afternoon. The staff is the best and helpful with whatever our needs were. We had stayed at the Lighthouse on a previous trip but my favorite is now the Merlin. Thanks for a great experience and fun party.

I have never been to the Keys or even Florida for that matter. When I pulled in front to check in, I was super worried about where I was going to park…

Linda checked me in and I have to say, what a wonderful lady. Very kind. When I inquired where I should park she went out with me and looked and saw a place and stood out there until I went around the block and parked. The next day when I asked about things to do like bicycle renting she was more than happy to go through a couple different options for me. I asked a lot of questions and she was on point in answering them.

The room (room 11) was fabulous. Well appointed linens and a super comfortable bed. The bathroom was pretty small, but I am not in Key West to hang around in the bathroom. The rest of the room was huge and tatefully done.

I stayed for two days and wanted to stay a third because I liked it so much, but the guesthouse was booked…it was time for me to move on anyhow. Great experience.

The places I went were really good. A bit expensive, but hey, it’s Key West. I expected it

Linda suggested a kayak outfit called Bigdog or something like that. Very fun. Very enjoyable

We had a wonderful stay at the Merlin Guesthouse. Our first room #18 was spacious with a full kitchen including all appliances. It was beautifully appointed and spotless with a king sized bed. Great room. We decided to stay an extra night and were given another room #13 which overlooked the pool. What a lovely room!! We loved the private deck! We had a great experience with the other guests at the hotel. We met and had long conversations with several couples who were staying there, which made our stay even more enjoyable. We are hoping to come back next April or May and experience it again. Loved this place and their sister property The Lighthouse. We were given a coupon for a free drink there and enjoyed it very much. The people running and working for both properties couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating to us. Thank you for a wonderful Key West experience!!

Duffy’s, just down the street from The Merlin had great food at affordable prices

We enjoyed all the shops and the sunset celebration. At the south end of Duval is a great butterfly conservatory and I would say that was our favorite experience at Key West. We hoped to enjoy the Key West food tasting event, however we found it to be way too congested with few places to sit. We had wonderful food, however with so few tables, everyone had to stand and eat almost elbow to elbow. We left the event after our first tasting.

Wonderful location – Very friendly and helpful staff! Rooms were very comfortable. Only drawback -parking. We were lucky to use one of the two spots out back, but we were afraid to use the car in case we lost the space. We did know before arrival that there was only street parking. Maybe Merlin guests could park at one of your other properties nearby? Just a thought. Otherwise – we really loved Merlin!
