Key West Food & Wine Festival: January 28th – February 1st

Key West Food Wine Fest 2015Top chefs and restaurateurs showcase their culinary creativity and tasty Keys’ cuisine in a schedule of events for food, wine and beer lovers too. Attendees can participate in a slew of food-related adventurous events, brewing competitions and much more. Visit their website for all a list of all the fun events going on during the festival and to purchase tickets.

The 21st Master’s Chef is a must-do event during the festival. Local restaurants vie for top honors in three categories; appetizers, entrees and desserts. Participants get to sample as much as they can eat of the tasting plates while judges pick the winners. Tickets & times available online. Proceeds help benefit the Old Island Restoration Foundation which is dedicated to preserving the architecture and cultural heritage of our island.

50th Old Island Days Art Festival: February 21st – 22nd

The annual juried fine art show is set on lower Whitehead Street and Caroline Street in historic Old Town. The open-air, free-admission highly acclaimed show is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, features oil paintings, watercolors, sculpture, photography and other offerings by artists from around the United States.

To help get your creative juices flowing come to our Lighthouse Court Hotel Mojito Bar at 901 Whitehead Street. Relax around the pool, sip on your favorite cocktail and get your latitude adjustment on! Mike will be running some delicious drink specials at the Mojito Bar poolside too! Guests say they make the best mojito in town; our favorite is the apple mojito. Yum!! They go down like water.

33rd Conch Republic Independence Celebration: April 17th – 26th 
The Conch Republic motto is: “We Seceded Where Others Failed”. With activities ranging from a wacky bed race to a lighthearted sea battle featuring tall ships, and much, much more, the Conch Republic’s 10-day birthday party showcases the independent and eccentric spirit that characterizes Key West.

Key West Paddleboard Classic: April 30th – May 3rd 

Key-West-Paddleboard ClassicDuring this ocean paddleboard, racers enjoy a challenging 12-mile course over crystal blue waters, circling Key West through scenic mangroves, passing by the Historic Seaport district and more. The race around Key West is open to paddlers on standup paddleboards, prone boards, outrigger canoes, dory boats, surf skis and kayaks. Other weekend beach and paddling activities are planned.

The course has an “ocean start” though the race start and finish location has been moved down the street so that friends and families can watch the finish in traditional ” beach finish” style! It’s going to be a lot of fun as always.

 

 

Red Barn Theatre: Ongoing

Red Barn sets the bar for really great theatre in Key West. Works by Bob Bowersox, Mike Marrero, Mike Craver, Debra Monk, Mark Hardwick, Mary Murfitt, Charles Busch, Nora Ephron & Delia Ephron, Eric H. Weinberger and Donald Margulies have audiences laughing, crying, singing and generally just having a great night out. Get more info about the Red Barn Theatre here.
