Chelsea House Hotel – Great Place For A Weekend Getaway

The Chelsea House Hotel is a great spot for a getaway. Beautiful historic houses and on a property with a few other buildings. Rambling porches provide nice spots to sit at night and the pool courtyard is a nice refreshing spot. Our room had a beautiful old fireplace. The staff was courteous and professional. I would definitely recommend this to others.

Wonderful Stay At The Chelsea House Hotel

In early October 2016, my wife and I had a really pleasant 4 night stay in a King room. Our room was comfortable and had a nice spacious shower. The air conditioner kept the room very cool and was quiet enough to allow for a restful sleep. A nice continental breakfast was provided by the pool. It included cereal, juice, oranges, bananas, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, bakery items, coffee and tea. The hotel staff was very friendly, welcoming and quite helpful. Lyenna and Brandon (front desk) were especially helpful with great tips on fun things to see and do in Key West, and providing discount coupons. The housekeepers & breakfast staff were pleasant and greeted you with a smile.

We highly recommend staying here. It is a great location in “Old Town” Key West, and just a short walk to Duval Street. We would definitely stay at the Chelsea House Hotel again. It truly enhanced our Key West experience.

Chelsea House Hotel – Great Place!!!!

My son and I had a great stay at Chelsea House Hotel.  Breakfast by the pool is so relaxing, and as busy as we were, we felt as though we were coming “home” after our long days.  Very welcoming and accommodating staff, everything was pristine.  The room was a great size and the air conditioning was lovely with the hot weather outside.  We have already told friends about our stay and will be back ourselves!  Thank you for a wonderful time.

Chelsea House Hotel – Pleasant Stay

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Chelsea House Hotel for four nights from October 10 to 14, 2016.  We were there for my 60th birthday trip.  We were very pleased with your hotel, especially the beautiful outdoor environment.  The pool was so nice and the chairs and towels made sitting outside very comfortable.  There was just enough sun and shade! Our room was immaculate and the beds were perfect – just the right firmness.  We stayed right near the pool so getting breakfast was right outside our door. Breakfast was very nice with many options to choose from.  All staff we interacted with were pleasant and professional.  I would highly recommend the Chelsea House to others vacationing in Key West.

I have a few suggestions.  While the room – two queen beds -was just fine, I would suggest that you add a little more to the room to make it even more inviting- like little valances on the window, and maybe another picture or decoration on the wall, and the bathroom could use some shelving or space to store toilettes.  Somehow we didn’t have an alarm clock in our room and wondered about the lack of one.  We later realized it must have been missing as we noticed it was listed as an available amenity.  The hairdryer was missing too but that was immediately replaced.  Hope the previous guests did not take off with your hairdryer and alarm clock!  LOL!

One minor issue was the smokers on the porch right outside our door.  Thankfully the smoke never drifted into our room but it wasn’t too pleasant to have to walk by someone having a cigarette on the shared porch and then seeing cigarette butts left in the ashtray at the table we wanted to sit at.  Would have been better if the smokers been asked to carefully dispose of their butts when finished or better yet not smoke right by entrances to other rooms.  Maybe you could designate a smoking area away from direct paths to the buildings so non-smokers can breathe freely. Nevertheless, it was a minor issue that would not deter us from booking at the Chelsea House Hotel again.

I really hope we can visit again as there is still so much more we would love to do and see.  Key West is a wonderful place!  So glad we chose this incredible vacation destination.

Chelsea House Hotel – Great Experience

The Chelsea House Hotel made our stay in Key West wonderful.  We had a room that was everything we expect in a vacation and the staff was very attentive to our needs. Being off the main strip we did not have any problems with noise at night.  Simply “we loved it”.

Chelsea House Hotel – Awesome Stay- Will Definitely Be Back!

I really enjoyed my stay at the Chelsea House Hotel! My boyfriend and I went to Key West for my birthday and the hotel was selected kind of randomly. The front desk staff was very kind when checked in and we were even able to check in early. When they found out it was my birthday, they put a complimentary bottle of champagne in my room!

The room itself was very clean and our patio was great. It was nice and quiet and we didn’t hear any of our neighbors at all. I would definitely recommend the Chelsea House Hotel to anyone and I know I’ll be back!

Chelsea House Hotel – Elegant, Sophisticated, And Very Peaceful

We checked in the Chelsea House Hotel on a Monday in mid-October at around 5pm. We had had several conversations with them via both email and telephone before arriving. We were especially worried about Hurricane Matthew and its effects on Key West and our vacation. Each contact we had with Chelsea House seemed to further cement my feelings that we had chosen a great place to stay for our vacation. We had also had concerns about being near the pool as we didn’t want a lot of noise; they chose room #10 for us which is on the ground floor right around the corner from the pool and a straight shot to the parking area where I would park my motorcycle and our rental scooter. For other motorcycle riders just a note, the parking area is compressed gravel, or more like pebbles. I really don’t like gravel when on the bike, but this proved to be a non-issue during our stay for two reasons, first it’s very compressed so you don’t really slide and at parking lot speeds, it won’t bother you, second, we didn’t move the bike after check in until the day we left. It’s much easier in Key West to get around on a scooter than a big Harley, and I highly recommend Sunshine Scooter Rental.

The check-in was pleasant and easy; we had been riding on the motorcycle for about 8 hours and we were very tired but hungry. I told the check-in clerk the I wanted fresh, fried seafood for dinner and she recommended a place for us that turned out to be great!

Our room was very nice; queen bed (which was very comfortable, slightly firm) with nice linens, and bedside tables and lamps on both sides, nice sized flat screen TV, a comfortable chair, a dresser, and a large walk in closet (with a security safe on the back wall for your valuables). Be advised, most of the rooms at Chelsea House (I was told) do not have closets, so we felt lucky! The bathroom was simple and elegant. A shower only with very good water pressure and plenty of nice linens. The whole room was spotless and well decorated and the most important amenity, quiet! We found a Demi-bottle of Prosecco on ice with two champagne flutes waiting for us in our room, which I thought was very nice. My wife had told them we were visiting Key West for our wedding anniversary, they must have noted this and left the Prosecco for us to celebrate.

The first morning, I went to the pool for breakfast. I think the host at the pool was “Shirley,” she greeted me warmly and directed me to the coffee that was strong, dark, and hot; a great way to start the day in Key West! They also had cereal, muffins, bagels, yogurt, bananas, apples, and juice. By the way, the breakfast does not start at the crack of dawn, so if you need coffee early, they have a Keurig in the office, which I used once as well. Before we headed out for our first day’s adventure in Key West and a visit to the Butterfly Conservatory (which I highly recommend), I mentioned to the Front Desk Clerk the my wife’s back was bothering her from several days riding the motorcycle. I asked for a couple extra pillows (there were already four). That evening, we found in our room that they had accommodated my request and I really appreciated that.

I used the pool itself on one occasion to cool off and it was very refreshing. The temperature was perfect and it wasn’t crowded or loud. They supply towels at the pool so no need to bring one from your room and there were plenty of chairs, tables, and also chaise lounges for sunbathing and covered areas as well for relaxing out of the sun.

On one evening, my Wife and I relaxed on the small porch outside our room door. The patio furniture was clean and comfortable. I enjoyed a Cuban cigar while my wife had a drink. It was very pleasant.

On our final night in Key West, we opted for a more luxurious dinner, something a little different than usual Key West fare. We went to the La Trattoria Restaurant which was absolutely wonderful! While they still allow the laid-back casual attire Key West is known for, the food and service were anything but casual. It was amazing and I could eat the escargot every night of the week!

If I were to make any suggestions to the management at Chelsea House, it would simply be this; I would invest in luggage stands and store them under the beds in each room and leave a note in the room that they can found under the bed. Many people simply don’t want to unpack and others don’t want to leave their luggage open on the floor. A minor suggestion, and I am sure I am not the first to mention it.

Check-out was equal to check-in, painless and quick. Our room was well worth it for Key West and a bargain at the Chelsea House Hotel considering all the amenities, comfort, and superior service from the staff. We thoroughly enjoyed the Chelsea House Hotel, and would visit again.  All of the host staff made us felt welcomed and I truly believe each genuinely wanted us to enjoy our stay there and were willing to help us if needed.
