My husband and I stayed at the Cypress House for 3 nights 9/28-10/1/2014. We arrived Sunday late afternoon just in time for “liming hour” after the drive down from Miami airport. Kelly greeted us warmly, showed us to our lovely room and we went right down to the pool courtyard for complimentary cocktails and snacks. The pool and breakfast dining area is very inviting and peaceful. You can mingle with other guests or find a private area to relax.
We reserved a 2nd floor king room with a private porch which faced Caroline Street. We looked out on the activity of the street and the gardens below. Palm trees in front of the building gave us privacy. The room and bathroom was clean and recently updated.
Coffee was available at 7:00am and breakfast at 8:00am. Offered everyday was cereals, yogurt, hardboiled eggs, pastries, muffins, toast, fruit, juice, milk along with a warm choice like biscuits and gravy or ham, egg and cheese on an english muffin. Perfect for getting the day going and not over indulging.
I didn’t get the names of the other staff which changed shifts over the 3 days we were there, but everyone was pleasant, helpful and respectful.
A lot of research went into our choice of where to stay in Key West from a resort, a larger hotel and or something with a water view. In the end, I am glad we made this choice of a Bed & Breakfast within the history of Key West which I found so interesting. It was a very short walk to Duval Street because you are in Old Town, but at the same you can enjoy privacy in the “old” Keys.
Two comments that have not effect on my excellent rating:
1) While Kelly gave us a wonderful reception when we arrived, which is just a check in point, it could be made a bit more cozy as a first impression.
2) I am a non-smoker and rooms are “no smoking”. I would have welcomed “no smoking” in the courtyard pool and breakfast dining area.
Would stay here again or at another Historic Key West Inns hotel. We checked out their Merlin Guesthouse down Simonton Street and the rooms were amazing.By: Catherineski@aol.com October 10, 2014
