I’ve been going to the keys since I was a little girl and after finding out that my boyfriend had never been, decided to take him on a four day vacation down to Key West. We are both big literature fans, so obviously staying across from Heminway’s house was my first choice, but I wanted to make sure I wasn’t just paying for location. So, I researched for days before I decided on Lighthouse Court. Not only was the location perfect, but it looked beautiful online (and just as gorgeous in person!)
Unfortunately our ride down was a little frustrating so by the time we got there we were both a little grumpy, but felt so welcome the moment I got to Lighthouse Court. The lady at the front desk wasted no time in showing us all the interest points on the map, telling us who had the best food, where the good drink deals were, places that had the best beaches, etc. It was exactly the welcome that we needed to get our minds back into vacation mode.
Not only that, but every person we spoke to from maintenance workers to the bar tender were incredibly friendly. When we asked to stay for an extra night they tried to find us the nicest room with the best deal and it worked out perfectly. My only complaint was that our king suite had a sink and a fridge, but no microwave. That would have made eating our awesome leftovers from Fire Fly and Sloppy Joe’s a lot better, since Sloppy Fries aren’t exactly good cold. However, the lady that checked us in mentioned that our room had just been renovated so I’m assuming that the microwave just hadn’t come in yet!
Overall, the place was perfect. The location, the staff, the rooms, the bar, everything. We will definitely be booking with Historic Key West Inns when we come down in the fall!By: Kristine Deitrich July 2, 2014
