We recently stayed at the Lighthouse Court for our wedding and honeymoon in Key West. The word “exceptional” does not do this wonderful Hotel and its staff justice.
We encouraged many of our wedding guests to stay at the Lighthouse Court and I know they all had excellent experiences. We coordinated our wedding guests’ stays through Mary Simmons, who was extremely pleasant to work with and incredibly organized and helpful in making sure that the wedding guests received the block rates. I would also like to mention Rose at the front desk, who was eager to assist and even helped (with Mary) in some last minute changes in accommodations when we decided we could not resist one more night in the BEAUTIFUL Hemingway Suite.
We split our time between two different Standard Rooms and the Hemingway Suite during our stay. The Standard Rooms were simply great – clean, cozy, and with a remarkably comfortable bed! The Hemingway Suite, where we stayed for the middle of our Wedding/Honeymoon trip, was easily the nicest hotel room we have ever had the extreme pleasure in which to stay. We had booked two nights in the Hemingway Suite and I could not resist booking one extra night (which my bride did not mind in the least!) Again, with help from Rose & Mary, Lighthouse Court helped to make this happen without any hassle at all.
I would also like to mention how incredible Pam, housekeeping supervisor, and her entire staff were during our stay. She and her staff went out of their way to make sure that everything we needed was taken care of the whole week we were there. Between changing rooms (standard to Hemingway Suite to standard), they were organized, helpful and extremely friendly and pleasant!
The wedding was at the Hemingway Home, so the location of the Lighthouse Court could not have been better (directly across the street). It was so great during our nights in the Hemingway Suite to sit on the porch and look across the street and say “tomorrow, let’s get married right there!” and “hey, remember when we got married right over there?!” The grounds of the entire Lighthouse Court complex were great as well. The lush greenery and cozy cottages were so wonderful that our wedding photographer decided there was no better place to take many of the pre-ceremony pictures right there at the Lighthouse Court!
After the wedding, we populated the rooms, offices, and bar with the lovely floral centerpieces from the reception (and passed out as many of the delicious desserts as hotel guests and staff wanted). When we finally did have time to relax, we were able to hang out by the pool, get some sun, and read – all the while knowing that Nick at the Mojito Bar was not far away with another refreshing cocktail!
Beyond convenience to the actual wedding location, Lighthouse Court is only one block from Duval Street, a few down from the Green Parrot, and a couple up from the Southernmost Point. I am not one to often write reviews, but this place is special in so many ways. This is not so much a review as it is a sincere thank you to the Lighthouse Court and all of its wonderful staff. If you are reading this and you are planning a trip to Key West, do yourself a favor and stay at the Lighthouse Court Hotel.
