Having been a resident of Florida since 1959, it was time to visit Key West. My wife and I were looking forward to the trip as it was over my birthday. Our desire was to find a hotel centrally located in the old part of town, close to historical buildings that were within walking distance to where we stayed. The hotel needed to have a good reputation regarding cost, cleanliness, staff support and morale.
To our great pleasure, this hotel exceeded all expectations:
1.) Kudos to Alexander, who greeted us upon check-in as if we were the only guests. He was knowledgeable about all things hotel, as well as the town with respect to where places were and how best to get around (Bicycles or walking being the best way to go.). As it was my birthday and the hotel was not full yet, he gladly and quickly showed us a potential upgrade to the room that was booked. Note that either room was perfectly acceptable.
2.) The remainder of the staff, (Rose, Liz, and Marie to name a few) were also helpful and always ready to be helpful.
3.) The room was beautiful. Queen-size bed, new and comfortable. The rooms have been recently refurbished and are like-new Beautiful. Shower had instant on hot water, no waiting. The staff did an excellent job of maintaining it during the entire length of our stay (4 days).
4.) Breakfast was as advertised-fresh fruit, fresh pastries(bagels, croissants), cereal, hard boiled eggs, coffee, fresh orange juice. A great start to each day.
5.)We didn’t use the pool, but it was sparkling and large enough to accommodate those who wished to use it. We looked forward to the beach, which we found nearby at the Truman Annex.
6.)Everything we wished to see and do were within 20 minutes walking distance, starting with the Hemingway house directly across the street, and the Lighthouse Museum next door.
The hotel, its staff, and location could not have been more perfect.
