We arrived at Merlin Guest House in the mid afternoon, hot and tense from the heavy traffic on our drive from Miami. The beautiful garden with the crystalline pool sparkling in the sunlight was a haven of peace and calm. I was met with the warmest, welcoming smile from Linda who confirmed our booking, described the guest houses’ features while we simultaneously shared her and my fascination with the bald eagle chicks in DC. I immediately felt at home and comfortable. The charming, well appointed, spotlessly clean and comfortable rooms are scattered through the large shady garden, giving both privacy and ease of access to all facilities. Breakfast in the garden is a magnificent way to start a day. The location of the hotel in the center of the historic district of Key West is ideal for enjoying and experiencing the unique charms and joie de vivre of this fun, boisterous and always welcoming town.
The staff are unobtrusive, yet always available to attend to a guest’s needs and questions about the guest house, the town and “what’s on” in town.
Our stay was a delight, I will definitely return for more of Merlin’s magic and intend to share this little gem with family and friends.By: Roy Cane on April 12, 2016
